FR. En 2018, Michel Bourez entamera sa dixième saison sur le tour mondial de surf. Le documentaire Michel Bourez des racines du surf à la cime du monde, retrace son parcours exemplaire et exceptionnel. De sa naissance à Rurutu, en passant par ses premières vagues à Mataiea, ce film met en lumière une vie consacrée entièrement au surf au plus haut niveau.

Au fil d’interviewes exclusives, enrichis de documents originaux relatant son enfance,  on apprend pourquoi le Tahitien Michel Bourez est surnommé le Spartan, comment il a accédé en un temps  record au World Tour, comment il gère sa vie de famille en passant huit mois par an hors de la Polynésie française et comment il est revenu à son meilleur niveau après un grave accident à Teahupo’o en 2015.

Réalisé en partenariat avec la World Surf League, avec le soutien d’Air Tahiti nui, ce documentaire qui a nécessité un an et demi de travail, comprend séquences inédites et exceptionnelles.

Karim Mahdjouba, réalisateur du film, a suivi Michel Bourez en surf trips dans les îles, mais aussi pendant des étapes du Tour Mondial de surf, de Fidji, à la France, en passant par Teahupo’o et Hawaii où il a décroché, en 2016, l’un des titres les plus convoités de la planète surf, le Pipe Master.

Après ses victoires en Australie et au Brésil, cette victoire à Hawaii, confirme que l’objectif du Spartan est réalisable : devenir un jour champion du monde de surf.

EN. In 2018, The Red bull team pro surfer’s Michel Bourez enters a tenth season on the world surf tour. The documentary “Michel Bourez from the roots of the surf to the top of the world”, retraces his exemplary and exceptional course. From his birth in Rurutu, through his first waves to Mataiea, this film highlights a life entirely devoted to surfing at the highest level.

Through exclusive interviews, enriched with original documents relating his childhood, on approving why the Tahitian Michel Bourez is nicknamed the Spartan, how he reached a the world tour, how he lived his family life by spending eight months out of French Polynesia and how it returned to its best level after a serious accident at Teahupo’o in 2015.

Produced in partnership with the World Surf League and Air Tahiti Nui, and including unprecedented and exceptional sequences, this documentary needed one year and a half work.

Karim Mahdjouba, director of the film, followed Michel Bourez on trips to the French Polynesia islands, but also during the stages of the World Tour of surfing, from Fiji, to France, via Teahupo’o and Hawaii where he won in 2016 , one of the most coveted titles of the planet surf, the Pipe Master.

After his victories in Australia and Brazil, this victory in Hawaii, confirms that the objective of the Spartan is realizable: to become a surf world champion.
