With 6,000 km of coastline to explore, the island of Madagascar has long attracted surfing pioneers. Basque surfer Kepa Acero had often heard about trips where you could enjoy pristine waves with no one else around. In the summer of 2024, Kepa travelled there with two other surfers, his Basque friend Natxo Gonzalez and Portuguese surfer Miguel Blanco. They discovered a culture as rich as the perfect waves they surfed together.

« A Marble in the Jar » is a symbolic practice that involves consciously recognising something positive, whether big or small, in order to deliberately find what is good. This concept is at the heart of the story, which follows Tatiana Weston-Webb’s journey as a professional surfer. It documents her education, her heartbreaking loss of a world title and her struggle to return to the top.

What do you want to do when you grow up? What a silly question! Most kids just want to surf. ‘Dunno’ is a film about that moment. Board smashes, backflips… and silly dances by the Rip Curl junior team having fun all over the world. There’s also surfing, of course.
This latest film by Nick Pollet and Vaughan Blakey showcases the new generation of surfers.

SATURDAY AUGUST 30

DOS AU MUR

Real. Julie and Vincent Kardasik
Prod. Jean-Laurent Bodinier and Bénédicte Perrot – Upside

A virtuoso surfer, Jérémy Flores is one of France’s most international athletes. On social networks, between successes and outbursts, the life of the enfant terrible of French surfing fascinates… However, in reality, glory and victories have never made things easier… Far from it.

ABOUT

A pioneering event in this field, the festival highlights the best productions and achievements of the year. Facing the ocean, on the site of the Chambre d’Amour, giant screens allow the public to view all the films in competition for free. The International Surf Film Festival of Anglet will be organized from Wednesday, August 27 to Saturday, August 30, 2025. For 4 days: 2 screening sites, cinema, surfing, a partners’ village, exhibitions and concerts. An international jury, composed of personalities from the world of surfing and image, will announce the winners and award 7 prizes at the closing ceremony.

HISTORY

Created in 2004 by Bruno Delaye, the International Surf Film Festival was built around a strong ambition: to gain recognition and introduce a wider audience to the artistic quality of surf films. Faced with ever-increasing creativity on the part of filmmakers and the obvious lack of visibility of these productions in Europe, surf films deserved an event of their own. Over the past 20 years, the International Surf Film Festival has gradually established itself as a cultural and artistic event in its own right.
